2009 Southern Cities Championship
The 13th annual Southern Cities Championship was completed August 23rd at Racquet Club of the South in Atlanta, Georgia. Twenty six city teams from all over the Southeast came to play wonderful tennis and compete for charity dollars, all in wonderful - relatively cool for August - weather. After participating for several years and not taking home a trophy, Nashville topped all the other cities and came away with the win. Their charity money will go to the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville. Birmingham, a four time winner in years past, came in second. Columbia, South Carolina was a division winner. In the Community Division, the winner was Lake Norman. Their chosen charity was Susan G Komen Cure for Cancer. Gulf shores came in second. Congratulations and thanks to all of the 190 players who participated.
